The first radio signal crosses the Atlantic
Listening at a receiver in Newfoundland, Guglielmo Marconi picked out the faint Morse code letter S sent by radio from Cornwall, more than two thousand miles away. Many had believed radio waves could not follow the curve of the Earth. His transatlantic signal opened the age of long-distance wireless.
