Saturn's giant moon Titan is discovered
The Dutch astronomer Christiaan Huygens spotted Titan, the largest of Saturn's moons, through a telescope of his own design. It was the first moon ever found circling Saturn and remains one of the strangest worlds we know, with lakes of liquid methane beneath a thick orange sky.
