The World Wide Web is proposed
At the CERN physics lab near Geneva, Tim Berners-Lee circulated a memo proposing a way to link documents across computers so researchers could share information freely. His manager filed it with a note calling it exciting if a little vague, and the idea grew into the World Wide Web.
