Halley's Comet swings past on its long orbit
Halley's Comet reached the inner solar system again on the loop it has traced for thousands of years, the one bright comet most people can hope to see in a lifetime. It comes back only about once every seventy-odd years, so the visit was a farewell for many and a first for the young.
