The first wheeled robot rolls across another world
The Soviet Union's Lunokhod 1 touched down in the Moon's Sea of Rains and began to drive, the first remote-controlled vehicle to explore the surface of another world. Steered by a team on Earth, it traveled for months and sent home thousands of pictures.
