    The Flying Doctor takes to the air

    In the vast Australian outback, where the nearest doctor could be hundreds of miles away, the Aerial Medical Service began, sending physicians to remote stations by airplane. Two days later its first flight carried care to a patient at Julia Creek. The Royal Flying Doctor Service still answers calls across Australia today.
